Cinaed (Ken-ed) is a Scottish name that means 'Born of Fire.'  I chose the name both to celebrate part of my heritage and to reflect what I do.  Each piece of silver and gold jewelry is either fired in a kiln or subjected to the heat of a torch--sometimes both.

I love to create--this love is the driving force of my life.  When I'm not creating, I'm thinking of something new to create and trying out different ideas in my mind.

I think the wonder of creativity should be part of everyone's life. Everyone can be creative--usually it's fear that holds us back.  Fear that someone won't like what we create, fear that it won't turn out, or it won't be perfect.  Like the Nike commercial says--Just Do It!!

I started designing and making jewelry as a teenager.  I've always loved working with beads, gemstones and silver.  Several years ago I discovered metal clay and fell in love with this wonderful medium. I have taken a variety of classes and workshops on making jewelry with metal clay and continue to study and learn every chance I get.

As a Certified Senior Instructor for Art Clay Silver, I offer 1 day and 2 day classes in making unique silver jewelry.  I also offer Level 1 Certification classes by appointment.  I am located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia near Raonoke.

I frequently give demonstrations and work with other instructors teaching classes.  My most recent demonstration was at Tarboro, NC's History Days in September 2007.  Dressed in a Regency style dress (1805), I spent the day demonstrating enameling on silver for visitors.  Enameling was extremely poplular during the 1700 and 1800s.
